Hi everyone!! Thank you for all the love you have shown me this period of my engagement & wedding preps. It is truly an exciting time for me and I am trying to slow down and take it all in – and even capture moments that I will put up on my Youtube Channel for memories…
Recently I stumbled on a sermon by Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the rock church. It was my first time listening to a message by him. It’s titled “The power of choice”. I will insert the video at the end of the post in case you want to watch it.
If you follow me on snapchat @dvpe_s or Instagram @gingerlielifestyle, Then you will probably have an idea where I’m headed with this…
In that message, Pastor Paul talked about the power of choice and he highlighted 3 major choices that affect our lives.
1. The choice of what we feed on*
2. The choice of what we call into our lives*
3. The choice of the people we surround ourselves with
What we feed on refers to what we allow into our minds, the kind of books we read, the things we watch and listen to consistently. These things have a subtle but massive impact in shaping our lives. It is always best to watch/read/listen to things that are positive, uplifting, in line with Gods word, motivational, dignified, moral, etc.
What we call into our lives refer to the words we use daily (especially in times when everything seems to not be working) does your speech reflect your faith in God? When we are downcast, do we speak Gods words over our situation? or do we constantly talk about how much of a failure we are? Its important to monitor the words we speak because they determine what we see.
To better understand this please watch the video below.
The choice of the people we surround ourselves with is key. As Pastor Paul put it “The people around you are the guardians of your wisdom” that is deep! sometimes, it may seem like we can’t control the people around us but the truth is we can choose who we listen to. I think its important to decide early on which voice to listen to so as not to be easily swayed by what “Others” say or think.
Don’t feel guilty for doing what is best for you. you are under no obligation to be the same person you were 15 minutes ago. Its okay to grow. no apologies. and if you ever feel lost, the bible is the perfect guide. Just stay focused on the word of God.
So these are the 3 things i’m holding on to for a happier life. What other tips do you have? please share below. Till my next post. Stay blessed
