Monday Musings: What Kind of Survivor are you?

Are you familiar with the name Kechi Okwuchi?

She was the only student from Loyola Jesuit college to survive the Sosoliso plane crash in December 2005. I came across this Youtube video and thought to share. In the video she talked about the plane crash, her supportive family and then she went on to talk about her stand on the journey of self discovery.

I couldn’t help but wander…How many people continue to live after being faced with hardship or difficult situations? I mean truly live their lives??

In this video I got to see an entirely different side of Kechi…I didn’t see a victim of a plane crash…I saw a strong, focused lady who is passionate about life. She is funny and full of life. She is inspirational and its even more interesting that she graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas where she was the student speaker at the 2015 Commencement Ceremony.

I don’t believe there’s any situation too difficult to rise up from. Everyone, at some point, will encounter difficulty but I believe the purpose of that is to sharpen and strengthen us.

I’ve never felt like my scars define me.

I pray that young people will be able to explore their own passions and be free to pursue their talents and find themselves while finding their vision

I’d love to know what you have to say about this. Please share below. Have a lovely week ahead and don’t forget to be thankful!!

  1. I believe finding ones’ self can be one of the best things that can happen to a person. When you really do not know or understand your capabilities it makes you mediocre…… But the moment you do, you realise the reason for your existence is a blessing not just to you but everyone around you (like kechis story is to us). I believe kechis’ experience helped her and we should all tap from this motivating piece. Nice post
