SCROLL TO THE END OF THE POST FOR MORE PICTURES
I’m not sure why it has taken me forever to write this post on Things to do and places to visit in Zanzibar… but i’m determined to share it with you guys regardless. It’s 1:19am and I’m currently listening to “Stand by me” the Kingdom Choir’s version of Ben E Kings song. I’m very much still in the #RoyalWedding mood.
Zanzibar really is a great honeymoon destination, especially if you just want some peace and quiet. Sola and I got to see the famous stone town, prison island and spice market. In this post, I’ll also list out other places to visit and things to do in Zanzibar.
TIP: You might also want to go with a back pack with snacks and change of clothes. Snacks – to avoid buying “strange food” & keep you from getting cranky (if you’re like me. LOL.)
Clothes- so you can take pictures in different outfits. HeHe! If you know, you know
STONE TOWN | PRISON ISLAND | SPICE MARKET
Stone town is an ancient town in Zanzibar. The town leads to several islands, one of which is the prison island. It’s like a maze with lots of beautiful artifact. Every wall has its own story
Things to do in stone town:
1. See the Former Slave Market and hear more about the history
2. See the giant tortoise in Prison Island
3. Explore the old Fort
4. Eat at the Forodhani Gardens Food Market
5. Visit Zanzibar’s Sultans at the Palace Museum
6. Take pictures at the unique doorway
7. Visit the Zanzibar coffee house
8. Shop for souvenirs
9. Marvel at the narrow streets, but don’t get lost!
10.Visit the house of wonders and ancient Anglican church
and on your way out of Stone Town do stop by the spice market… i’m not sure why its hyped, but I’d advice that you don’t expect too much. Its just like every regular market just that they sell a variety of spices you can buy to take back home with you.
TIP: You can save some money by not paying any tourist agency to plan your trip. It might be more fun to be adventurous. There’s always a tour guide at these places, the only problem is identifying someone you can trust. Our guide was recommended by The hotel manager, Sele.
