My dream morning routine would be to snuggle in bed all morning. Yup, that’s it. (I guess It’s okay to dream right?). I love my morning sleep so much but “adulting” has taught me that discipline in every area of life is the way forward and your spiritual life should not be left out (That’s why I’m writing a post on daily devotionals). I learnt really early in life that God is the only true source of every good thing (strength, wisdom, guidance…name it). Therefore, I owe Him my all…withholding absolutely nothing (not even my extra sleep time).
Daily devotion is a spiritual discipline that will strengthen your relationship with God. What other way do you get to know someone than to spend more and more and MORE time with the person? If you truly desire more of God, Sundays and other public worships will not be enough. You need to set some time apart to be in His presence.
I doubt if there’s any rule that devotions have to be done in the morning but I believe that your mornings set the tone for the day. If you are familiar with the story of David in the bible, you would know that he always asked God for direction BEFORE any battle and God always answered him.The bible says that David would go into Gods presence more than seven times a day. I believe that is why God called him “a man after His (God’s) heart”. So before you set out, do make it a daily habit to inquire of the Lord. You cant miss it in life when the one who has the road map is leading you.
As to how a devotion should be done just remember these 3 key things in no particular order;
Read, Pray, Worship
